Sponsorship is $25 a month or $300 a year per person for food, shelter, health care and education. Your sponsorship is set up as a recurring gift at the level of support indicated. You may end the payments at any time in the future should you decide to stop sponsorship.

Dolmaling Nuns in Need of Sponsorship

Jamyang Lhamo

Nunnery: Tilokpur
Jamyang was born in Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh, India. Her parents does farmers, they cultivate crops like wheat and barley in their small land and that was their only source of income, she is the eldest child in the family, she has two younger brothers, and one sister. All of them are studying in Tawang School. Jamyang studied 3rd grade and left school to help her parents in the field and also took care of her siblings. When they are old enough to take care of themselves. She joined the Tilokpur Nunnery in 2006.



Dechen Dolma
Date of Birth: 1983

Nunnery: Tilokpur
Dechen was born at Gangtok, Sikkim. Both of her parents expired, she has one sister and one brother. Oldest sister married and her brother is a monk. She is the youngest child, went to school in her village and studied up to grade VII, and left to join the Tolokpur Nunnery in 2007.  Right now, she is studying Buddhist philosophy, Tibetan and English and also attends the nunnery class.


Karma Rinchen Dolma
Date of Birth: 1992

Nunnery: Tilokpur
Karma was born in Arunachal Pradesh, India. She has three brothers and two sisters.  Her parent's does farmers and they grow potatoes and rice in their small fields, all of her siblings work in the field or help at home. None of them had ever been to school.  Karma decided to join the Nunnery and her parents are happy about her decision.  She joined Tilokpur nunnery in 2007 and was happy to be part of the nunnery. She is studying in grade II and after completing her studies she wish to stay at the nunnery.


Karma Dolker
Date of Birth: 1990

Nunnery: Tilokpur
Karma was born and brought up in Kathmandu, Nepal. Her parents run a small restaurant and that is their only source of income. Karma has three sisters and one brother. One of her younger sister is also a nun and she is with her at the same nunnery. They both joined in 2004. Her brother is monk in Nepal. Karma went to school and studied up to grade II and left school to help their grand parents, she stayed their for two years and came to Dharamsala to become a nun. She called her younger sister who was not studying, helping her family in the restaurant.  Both are happy at the nunnery and learning Buddhist philosophy, English and Tibetan. She is also learning computer and wish to become a teacher after completing her studies.


Yangchen Lhamo
Date of Birth: Sept 6, 1986

Yangchen was born at Nyeshang, Nepal. Her family consists of two sisters and two brothers. Her father does small business selling antique pieces for their living and her mother does house wife. Yangchen went to school and studied up to grade IV and left to joined the Dolma Lhakhang Nunnery in Nepall, studied there for almost eight years. She applied for Dolmaling Nunnery in India to study philosophy and got admission. She is happy at Dolmaling to find the philosophy subject very intresting. She wish to become a teacher after completing her studies.

Tenzin Dolkar
Date of Birth: 1988
Code: 2158
Tenzin was born in Kham, Tibet. Her parents does farmers, she is the youngest child in the family, she has two elder sisters. She joined the Nunnery in Tibet when she was eighteen years old. She stayed there for six months and came to exile for better education. She studies ten months at Transit School in India and applied for Dolmaling Nunnery. In March 2008 she was selected and now studying in grade I. After completing her studies she wish to returne to Tibet to teach for the children in her village.



Pema Dhadon
Date of Birth: 1990

Pema was born in Sikkim , India . Her mother works at home and her father is a framer.  Pema went to school until grade II but could not continue at school due to bad health.   On March 2005, Pema was admitted to Domaling nunnery and she is now happy to studying Tibetan and religious studies.



Tsultrim Dolma
Date of Birth: 1988
Code: 2115
Tsultrim is from the Kham area of Tibet . Her parents are farmers and she has three brothers and two sisters. Tsultrim has always wanted to be a nun but she had no opportunity to go to school in Tibet or study to be a nun. She came into exile along with few friends who also wanted to practice religion freely and to study.


Tsundue Sangmo
Date of Birth: 1986
Code: 117
Tsundue is from the Kham area of Tibet . Her mother expired 13 years ago after giving birth to her youngest brother. She left behind five children.  Her father is a farmer and is unable to take care of his children. He could not afford to send Tsundue to school so she came into exile in order to practice religion and to study to become a nun.
