GYURMELING MONASTERY

Sponsorship is $25 a month or $300 a year per person for food, shelter, health care and education. Your sponsorship is set up as a recurring gift at the level of support indicated. You may end the payments at any time in the future should you decide to stop sponsorship.

Drimey
Age: 10 years old
Drimey was born in Bir to Nepalese parents, both are working in a carpet factory. He has one sister. Drimey joined the monastery at age 8 and he likes cycling and drawing




Gyurme Dhondup
Age: 17 years old
Gyurme was born in Nepal. Both parents passed away. He has one sister and one brother. Gyurme joined the monastery at age 14 and he likes football



Norbu Woeser
Age: 13 years old
Norbu was born in Nepal. His parents are farmers. He has two brothers. His father sent him to became a monk at age 9. Norbu enjoys playing vidoe games with his friends.



Pema Woeser
Age: 12 years old
Pema was born in Tibet but staying with his parents in Bir, he has two brothers. Pema's father is the monastery's ground caretaker and his mother works in a tailoring shop. He joined the monastery at age 9 and likes paying cricket and wants to become a teacher.




Phursang
Age: 15 years old
Phursang was born in Sikkim , India . He has five sisters. Both of his parents are farmers. he decided to become a monk and joined the monastery recently.




Ram Bhadur
Age: 10 years old
Ram was born in Bir to India and Nepalese parents. Both passed away. He has two sisters who are farmers. He was admitted at the monastery at age 8. Ram likes cycling and wants to become a good monk.




Senge Wangchuk
Age: 14 years old
Sangay was born in Nepal . Both of his parents are farmers. He has one sister and two brothers. His parents sent him to become a monk at age 12. Sangay likes playing games and wants to become a good monk.




Sherap Dorjee
Age: 11 years old
Sherab was born in Nepal . Both of his parents are farmers. He has one brother and one sister. His parents sent him to become a monk at age 9. Sherab got burnt badly while his parents were working in the fields. He enjoys reading boks and wants to become a good monk.




Sempa Wangchuk
Age: 12 years old
Sempa was born in Nepal . His parents are divorced, brought up by his grandmother. His father is a labourer and mother house-wife. He has one brother and one sister. He likes playing football.




Thinley Dorjee
Age: 11 years old
Thinley was born in Nepal. Both of his parents are farmers. He has two brothes and one sister. His parents sent him to become a monk at age 9. Thinley likes playing cricket and wants to become a good monk.



Jyurme Samdup
Age: 14 years old
Jyurme was born in Nepal. His parents are farmers. He has two brothers and two sisters. His father sent him to become a monk at age 12.  Jyurme likes drawing. He wants to become the monastery storekeeper or the treasurer when he grows up.



Sherab
Age: 15 years old
Sherab was born in Nepal . Both of his parents are farmers. He has one brother and one sister. His parents sent him to become a monk at age 13. He wants to enter the three year retreat program at the monastery after finishing his initial training. He likes playing cricketk.


Sherab Wangchuk
Age: 12 years old
Sangay was born in Nepal . Both of his parents are farmers. He has two sisters and one brother. His father sent him to become a monk at age 10. Sangay likes playing football and wants to become a good monk.
Woser Dorje
Age: 15 years old
Woser
as born in Nepal. His father is a postman and his mother a farmer. He was admitted at the monastery at age 11. Woser likes playing basketball and hopes to become the monastery's chant master one day.
