Geshe Lobsang Lungtok

Geshe Lungtok was born in Tibet and his family and his relatives were killed during Chinese invasion in Tibet in 1959. He is suffering from Tuberculosis and has been in poor health condition. He is completely depended upon the Monastery.

Geshe Lobsang Chojor

Geshe Lobsang Chojor was born in Tibet . He joined Drepung Loseling Monastery in Tibet when he was six years old and received ordination vow from Minyak Tripa Yeshi wangden. At the age of 20, he began training on multiphoni chanting and performing rituals. At 28, he received full ordination vow from Ven. Pema Gyaltsen then abbot of Drepung Loseling Monastery in Lhasa . He escaped to India . Ever since he came to the relocated Loseling Monastery in South India , he has assumed responsibilities in various capacities. At the age of 59 he received Geshe degree after completion of monastic studies. In recognition of his ability and competence, he was appointed disciplinarian of Drepung Loseling. The tenure of displinarian at these monasteries is one year each. Currently he is 82 years old and completely depended upon the Monastery.

Geshe Yeshi Gonpo

Geshe Yeshi Gonpo was born in Lhasa , Tibet . At the age of 8. he joined the Drepung monastery and began to learn to read and perform rituals. He fled to India at age 18 and studied at Drepung Loseling Monastery in South India . After many years of struggle in learning, he succeeded in completing the traditional Buddhist studies and was awarded Geshe degree in Year 1981. On special request, he served as the disciplinarian of the monastery for two years. In 1988 he was appointment the deputy abbot of the monastery and served for eight years.

Geshe Lobsang Phuntsok

Geshe Lobsang was born in Tibet in 1920. At the age of sixteen, he joined the Drepung Loseling Monastery in Lhasa , where he began intensive study of Logic, Prajnaparamita, Madhyamaka and Abhidharama. He gained the title of Geshe at the age of thirty-five. He fled India at the age of forty and continues his study at the monastic refugee camp at Buxadu , India . At the age of forty-three, he took the Lharampa Geshe Examination. He was appointed Gyuto Trantric Collge disciplinary in-charge.

Geshe Phuntsok Rabten

Geshe Phuntsok Rabten escaped from Tibet in 1959 with some of his fellow monks. He was born in 1936 in Kham , Tibet . He joined Drepung Loseling Monastery near Lhasa at the age fifteen. In exile he joined Drepung Monastery and was  elected to the post of administrator for twice at a time. In 1991 he received Geshe degree and almost four years beginning from 2004 he was entrusted with the responsibility of supervising the construction of new assembly hall.

Ven. Tashi Gyaltsen

Tashi Gyaltsen was born in Changlung in Markham , Tibet . He joined Drepung monastery to become monk in 1946. Along with large numbers of Tibetans he escaped Tibet and fled to India in 1959. In 1963 he joined Tibetan Voluntary Military service and served till 1980. In 1982 he accepted the commitment to serve at Tibetan school in Mussoorie for six years. After completion of his service he rejoined the Drepung Monastery. He has been practicing meditation and reading scriptural texts. Currently he is staying at the house for old and infirm people.

Geshe Tsipa Dorjee

Geshe Tsipa was born in Kham , Tibet . At the age of seven, he joined the local monastery and started learning preliminary course on Buddhism. Later he moved to Drepung Loseling Monastery in Lhasa , where he began intensive study of Buddhist Philosophy. In 1959, he fled to India and studied at Drepung Loseling Monastery in South India . After many years of struggle in learning, he succeeded in completing the traditional Buddhist studies and was awarded Geshe degree in Year 1981. Since then he has been giving teaching to many new comers for monastic examination.

Ven. Lobsang Tsultrim

Ven. Lobsang wsa born in 1935 in Dherong District of Dhokham, Tibet. In 1953 he became monk at Drepung Loseling Monastery in Tibet and pursued his studies on Buddhist philosophy there until the Chinese invasion in Tibet in 1959. He escaped into India and resumed his studies at the Monastery.

Geshe Dorje Tenzin

Geshe Lobsang Nyima was born in Kham , Tibet . He left his family at a very young age in order to enroll himself into Drepung Loseling Monastery in Lhasa , Tibet . At age 7, he received his ordination vows and continued his studies. He fled to India and moved with his proteges to resume his studies at Buxar refugee camp for couple of years. While in exile he received full ordination vows from His Eminence Ling Rinpoche. He along with other monks of his monastery moved to South India to pursue further studies at the reestablished Drepung Loseling Monastery and ever since he has been residing there. At the age 45, he completed his studies and was conferred the Geshe degree. He was highly appreicated for his selfless service in various capacities towards the development of the Monsatery. Thupten Dawa

Thupten Dawa was born in Gawa Rashu, Kham , Tibet . His father left him and his mother when he was one year old. At the age of two he lost his mother. He was brought up by his relatives. At age 14, he joined Rashu monastery. In 1991 he went to Lhasa to pursue further studies and joined Drepung Loseling Monastery in Lhasa , Tibet . He studied there for four years and in 1998 he fled to India and enrolled in Drepung Loseling Monastery and ever since he has been residing there. He was considered as one of the best students at Buddhist philosophy subject. In 2007 he got Pontine infectioin stroke and consulted many doctors but did not show any signs of improvement. It has been two and half years since he was hospitalized and is still under treatment.

Tenpa Choephel

Tenpa was born in a small village in Bathang, Kham Tibet . His parents are farmers. Due to poverty his parents could not afford to send him to local Chinese school. He joined local monastery to study Buddhism but he could not continue his studies due to lots of restriction so he escaped to India in 1991 to pursue his studies. After years of hard work he was awarded Geshe degree in 2007. At the beginning of 2008, he got serious health problem and was diagnosed with Hepatitis B since then he has been undergoing treatment, however due to financial problem he sometimes has to discontinue his treatment. Yamphel

Yamphel was born in 1965 in Kham , Tibet . His parents are farmers and could not afford to send him to school. In 1985 his parents he escaped into India and joined the Monastery to pursue his studies. After years of hard work he completed his studies at the monastery and start to study to pursue his Geleg Board exam for a couple of years. However due to serious health problem, he could not continue his studies. Pema came from Drayab, Tibet in 2007. His parents are farmers. Pema has three younger sibliing in Tibet. Being originally from Tibet, he faced a lots of difficulties and experienced prolong health probelem when he first came to the monastery, which is very hot all year round. Kalsang Gyatso

Kalsang was born at Tehor, Kham Tibet. He came into exile in year 1996 and has ever since been engaged in studying and practicing Buddhism at the monastery. Lobsang Nyendak

Lobsang was born in Chamdo, Tibet. He left his parents in Tibet in 2006 when he was 13 to study and practice Buddhism. He is studying in grade II at school. His favorite subjects are Tibetan and Science. In a year or two from now, he will take up Buddhist Philosophy as his main subject of sutdy at the monastery.
