JAWALAKHEL ELDER HOME: The Old Aged Home at Jawalakhel was built by Help Aged Organization, UK, Jawalakhel Handicraft Center (JHC) and Snow Lion Foundation (SLF) and opened on 1st October 1992. The capacity of this Old Home is 25 old people, 15 from JHC and 10 from Snow Lion Foundation. It’s a three storied buildings in which there are 12 double rooms and 4 single rooms with small store and dinning hall, kitchen and storeroom. Besides the building, they have a garden and a big prayer wheel (Mani Lhakhang) this is for those people who are quite old and could not go out of the compound; they can go for circumambulation of the prayer wheel in their free time. At present, there are 16 elders in Old Aged Home, Jawalakhel.

Dedon
Date of Birth:1918, Ngari, Tibet
Dedon was a nomad in Tibet. She was very poor and no family members to take care of her.  Her relatives who helped her escaped into exile in Year 1990. After few years, she got admitted in Jawalakhel Elders Home




Kardon
Date of Birth:1935, Ngari, Tibet
Kadon was a nomad in Tibet. She escaped to Kathmandu where she worked in Jawalakhel Handicraft Centre for few years.  She has four children three sons and one daughter, her daughter is married and has a family of her own.  One of her son is a monk, one is mentally sick.  Her relative is taking care of her son.   She has no one to take care of her and was admitted at Jawalakhel Elders Home




Sichoe
Date of Birth:1929, Ngari, Tibet
Sichoe grazed cows and yaks for other family in Tibet when she was young.  She escaped to Kathmandu where she worked in Jawalakhel Handicraft Centre for 20 years. Due to her old age and poor health, she has to leave her job. She is alone and has no children to take care of her. She got admitted at Elders Home.



Thinley Rabgyal
Date of Birth:1925, Tsarong, Tibet
Thinley was a monk in Drepung Monastery in Lhasa, Tibet.  After escaped he joined Guerilla resistance force based in Lo, Mustang for 14 years.  Due to his old age and does not have income.   No children to take care of him.  In 1995 he got admitted at Jawalakhel Elders Home.


Tsewang
Date of Birth:1925, Derge, Tibet
Tsewang belonged to a family of nomad. He escaped to Lo, Mustang where he joined Guerilla resistance force. Later he worked in Carpet factory run by Tibetan government for few years. Due to his age and poor health, he has to leave job and got admitted in Jawalakhel Elders Home.
