Tashi also lives in Dhondenling Refugee Camp in South India with her mother, an aunt who is unemployed and three sisters. Her father passed away when Tashi was young and her mother is in ill health. Tashi's dream is to become a great Tibetan artist and she loves practicing Tibetan songs and dance.

Tenzin lives with her mother and three siblings in Bhandra Tibetan Settlement in Maharashtra, India She enjoys learning Tibetan opera and music and her aim is to be a "great Tibetan singer and dancer".

Tsering grew up in remote village near Pokhara , Nepal where he lived with his parents and 8 siblings. His parents were nomads and Tsering did not get an opportunity to go to school when he was young. Tsering said that joining TLPA has given him "a golden chance to start a new life".

Tsering was born near Dharamsala, India. He has been interested in Tibetan music, song and dance since 7th. grade and is happy to be at TLPA where he can learn to become a performer of traditional arts as well as help preserve the Tibetan culture.

Lobsang Gyaltsen

Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts
Lobsang's parents sent him and his younger brother into exile to get an education when they were 7 and 5 years of age respectively. The two brothers have had a difficult time in India as they are alone, their parents having remained behind in Tibet . Lobsang attended he Tibetan Children's Village School for a few years and was admitted to the TIPA School because of his burning desire to become an artiste. He is hard working and likes to help others.

Tsepak Wangmo

Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts
Both Tsepak's parents have passed away, her mother when Tsepak was 6 years and her father when she was 13. As an orphan Tsepak has had various difficulties including being abel to pay school fees and related expenses. Tsepak is delighted to have been admitted into the TIPA School since she has always been intested in the performing arts.

Tenzin is another young refugee whose parents sent him into exile to get an education in India when he was 9 years old. His parents and younger brother stayed behind so he has been alone in India, depending on the Tibetan exile community for his support . He studied at the Tibetan Children's Village and joined TIPA because of his interest in becoming Tibetan performing arts.

Norbu Samphel

Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts
Norbu fled Tibeta at age 11 leaving behind his parents and relatives. His parents sent him out alone so he could get an education in India. Norbu studied in the Tibetan Homes Foundation School before joining TIPA. He is a very talented singer and becoming quite accomplished in playing tranditional Tibetan musical instruments as well as modern instruments such as the piano and flute

Tenzin Yangzom

Tenzin grew up in a Tibetan refugee settlement in South India. A few years after her parents were divorced her mother died and her father refused to take care of Tenzin and her sibling so she lived wiht her grand parents.

Tenzin Norbu escaped from Tibet at age 11, leaving behind his mother and sister. He has not had any contact with his family in Tibet and he does not have any relatives or means of support in India. Tenzin studied at the Tibetan Homes Foundation school and joined TIPA because of his interest in Tibetan performing arts.
