SPECIAL APPEAL: TIBETAN DELEK HOSPITAL & TB PROJECT
Take a moment to hear the story of just one patient. A 70-year old Buddhist nun weighing 90 lbs., came into Tibetan Delek Hospital with TB. She had swollen hands and feet that had nothing to do with her infectionbut were caused by low protein, a problem shared by half of the Tibetan population.
Protein malnutrition and lack of vitamins and minerals robs a body of its ability to fight infections and heal. For 95 cents a dayless than what it costs for a bottle of water or a latteyou can give Ani Pema the protein, vitamins and minerals that she urgently needs to heal.
Delek runs on charitable donations. It purchases low protein foods like white rice, white bread and noodles because they are cheaper. We can more than double the protein content by adding an egg, a glass of milk and 2 cups of lentils. If we also add a piece of fruit and a two carrots, we’ll unleash the power of nature’s vitamins and minerals
