COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS

The Tibet Fund assists the Department of Home by funding income-generating projects including fruit orchards and vegetable gardens, small enterprises such as stores and guest houses, and purchasing farm equipment and vehicles.  The Tibet Fund also supports training on management, administrative skills and youth vocational education.

To help improve communications within and between the Tibetan settlements, The Tibet Fund provided computers to thirty-three settlements and support for training that enabled settlement administrators to network and use the internet.

The Tibet Fund underwrites the construction of schools, housing, community halls and offices.  In response to a request from the Department of Home, funding was provided to construct housing for fifty-two Tibetan refugee families scattered in and around Dalhousie Hill station, Himachal Pradesh, India.  In instances where settlements face disasters such as droughts, flooding and earthquakes, emergency relief funding is provided to help the residents to get back on their feet.   The Tibet Fund is continually seeking funding partners for infrastructure and emergency relief projects.
